Aussie Rob is a modern jazz quintet from Naarm/Melbourne that defies its own idiomatic categorisation. Since the release of their debut album in 2019, Bogans Like Jazz Too, the band members have individually spent time honing their own musical voices. Subsequently, their re-emergence is rife with vibrancy, their music drawing from their unfolding experiential history as a band, as well as their own distinct developing and developed musicality. This combination of individual musical voices brings together sensibilities from different musical perspectives, be it jazz, experimental and ambient music, modern classical, pop, and alternative rock.
Aussie Rob’s irony and degree of seriousness is a confused mess, one that the band eagerly sloshes around in.
