Celebrating the Music-Brian Abrahams-Space is The Place

  • Cross Street Music hall 11 Jewell Crescent Brunswick East, VIC, 3056 Australia (map)

Drumming legend Brian Abrahams has been the nucleus of the South African jazz music being played in Melbourne for over two decades.
For this celebration Brian will join up with fellow drummer Ronny Ferella to lead a large ensemble, inspired by Brian's time with the Grand Union Orchestra. Space Is The Place is the exciting combination of Afrospace Interchange and the Small Space Music community, performing new music composed and arranged by Ferella and Patrick Jaffe.

Opening act will be Sounds of The Motherland, led by bassist Alex Keatley who has recently relocated to Melbourne from New Zealand. This new lineup will perform a mix of Alex's original music and classics from his South African heritage, as featured on his recently released debut studio album.
